Rode out of town to look for the famous Phanom Rung historical park. Headed southwards on highway 218 and turned in route 4073 and arrive after riding for about 60km (1hr) It is said to be one of the most important Khmer temples within Thailand.
After a simple lunch of pad thai (60B), I approached the admission office to buy my ticket. The signboard says the charge for Thais is 20B and the charge for farangs is 100B. Thus, I pretended to be thai and got in for 20B.
I had to climb a long flight of stairs to reach the temple (5mins?) Atop of the flight of stairs lies an ancient temple in a relatively small compound. (100m by 100m)
Frankly, I was kind of expecting to see much more than this after riding 60km there. I left after about 30 min feeling disappointed. I'm sure my visit to Angkor Wat will have much more to offer me.
Exhausted after a day out in the hot sun, I rode back to town to rest. Along the way back, I stopped at the Buriram football stadium which is way more grand than any stadium back home in Singapore. The Thais are really passionate about their football. Yesterday, every television set I saw in town was showing the Thais vs the Aussies. A match which the Thais lost narrowly by 1 goal to nil.
Had an early dinner of grilled chicken and som tam before going back to my hotel to do a routine servicing on my bike. Cost: 70B.
Spent about an hour doing a thorough check on the bike, installing the original airfilter and changing the engine oil. Cost: Nil. Manage to reduce overall bike weight by 1kg as I decided to use the spare bottle of oil that I was carrying all along. This bike simply does not consume any oil at all.
Expenses:
Hotel - 540B
Petrol - 200B
F&B - 465B
Entertainment - 200B
