Left Siem Reap at 11am and headed eastwards on highway 6 before turning northwards on highway 67 towards Anlong Veng. I initially planned to have lunch and have a look around. At about 1.30pm, I reached Anlong Veng. After a 10 mins ride around town, I had seen enough. Totally no interest in this crap town. I didn't even stop for a drink, instead choosing to head towards the border checkpoint at Cho Am.
I cleared the Cambodian immigration and customs quickly and crossed over into Thailand. Guess who I met? It's Mr Jackass! The customs guy from the Chong Chom who tried to prevent my bike from leaving Thailand previously.
He still remembered me and was quite sore I gave him the slip previously. I thought I was done for-_- Luckily, the immigrations officer that I had a good chat with previously put in a good word for me and Mr Jackass reluctantly allowed my bike into Thailand. But all of these came at a cost. 200B to the immigrations officer for the letter of conveyance and 200B for Mr Jackass for processing my bike importation. The whole process took about 1 hour and ended at about 3pm. Total cost: 400B.
At least I've left the land of corruption and crossed over into the land of smiles where I feel so at home. And my bike is now fully legal again.
Rode northwards the remaining 90km towards Si Saket on road 2201 and highway 220 and reached at 5pm. Damn hungry and stopped by the roadside to have fried rice and iced coffee. Cost: 55B
Checked in the very beautiful and brand new 'Srilamduan Hotel' for 550B including breakfast. I would gladly pay 1000B for a hotel of this standard.
Didn't take many photos today as the ride out of Cambodia was boring to me. Almost felt as if I was running away.
8pm went out to the night market and there was a Chinese opera and a night bazaar with games such as bingo, darts and shooting and there was even an open air cinema. Wasted about 100B here playing dumb games. Went for some noodles before going back to sleep. Damn tired.
Expenses:
Hotel - 550B
Petrol - 200B
F&B - 125B
Entertainment - 100B
Telco - 100B
