Day 43 - Relax @ Ubon Ratchathani (Rest day)

Just got news last night that my parents will be flying to Bangkok to join me this Saturday. My hotel is booked till Thursday morning so that means I've only got 2 days to ride to Bangkok.

Nah! Too damn lazy.. Besides I've already been to all the towns along the route to Bangkok. (Si Saket, Surin, Buriram, Khorat)

I decided to cheat a little and take the train to Bangkok instead. After my hotel breakfast, I rode over to Warin Chamrap where the Ubon Ratchathani train station is located to enquire about the logistics of my plan.

Chose the evening train over the morning train as I do not wish to miss my train and I like to wake up late.

Train 68
Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok
24/11/2011
1830hrs to 0550hrs
2nd class sleeper (lower)
Cost: 741B

Next I went to the station master to enquire about the cost of transporting my bike over. He quote me 766B based on 125cc. I suspect the price may change tomorrow as he did not even see my bike prior to quoting me.

So far the total cost is about 1500B. Below the 2000B I had expected.

Feeling very tired today. Just rode around town and went to the shopping mall as there's nothing interesting nearby.

Went back to my hotel's restaurant to have fried noodles and Bah kut teh for lunch. Cost200B. After lunch is back to my room to sleep.. Simply to lazy to do anything today. Shall go party tonight.

9pm went to 'wrongway cafe', a farang establishment to have a dinner as there has been some good reviews about this place. Nice cozy place indeed. Ordered a cheeseburger set for 125B and some drinks. The food was great. Cost: 300B

After dinner went to 'Feline disco' only to find that it has closed down. Next went to 'U-bar' which is supposedly an upmarket university bar. But I find that it's boring and went back to my room after 1 beer.

Verdict:
Ubon is boring in the day & night -.-

Expenses:

Hotel - 440B
F&B - 425B
Train ticket - 741B
Entertainment - 280B
